A Near Mint Pewter Plate by Love - SOLD

A Near Mint Pewter Plate by Love

The “Love” touchmarks were used over a period of many years likely beginning in the 1760’s and continuing into the 19th century. It is known the Palethorps used the Crown X mark for certain and likely made a good deal of “Love” pewter especially pieces just marked with the “Love” touch alone.

This plate’s surface is nearly flawless. The lathe marks are clearly visible on both the face and back of the plate. An owner placed their initials and the date of 1858 on the back of the plate. This plate measures 7 13/16" in diameter.

The touches are mint and well struck a super fine example of a “Love” plate. (ON HOLD)
