A Pewter Basin by Thomas Danforth III - SOLD

A Pewter Basin by Thomas Danforth III

7 15/16” basin by Thomas Danforth III, Middletown, CT 1777-1783, Rocky Hill 1783-1820 and Philadelphia for different periods of time from 1806-1812. This basin is cast in a Connecticut Mold and was likely made during the time frame he was working in Rocky Hill.

There are a few pits around the touchmark, other than these blemishes, this piece is otherwise in new condition. Lathe turning marks and “chatter” show clearly on both the face and back of this piece.

The touch is deeply struck in the center of the interior of the basin.
