A Brass Rimmed English Domestic Pewter Gill Measure

This English domestic brass rimed measure dates from the mid 19th century. I have heard that some believe these were designed for dry measure and the brass rim allowed for excess contents to be scrapped to the top of the rim.

Not so sure about that. They were however made in many different sizes. I have seen examples from quarter gill to quart. A graduated grouping makes for a attractive display with the contrast of the brass and pewter.

There are verification markings on the brass rim. The measure is 3” tall to the lip. In very good plus condition.
