A Quart Export Pewter Tankard by Nathaniel Barber - SOLD

A Quart Export Pewter Tankard by Nathaniel Barber

This quart tankard was made by Nathaniel Barber. He worked in London from 1777-1810 and was a successor to William Fasson. He also made broth bowls, beakers and other forms.

This tankard has an open chair back thumbpiece and double ā€œCā€ scroll handle. The metal is in very good plus condition and the touch is nearly fine and clearly struck on the inside bottom of the tankard. There is a WR Crowned mark to the left of the handle. Some of the lathe marks still show clearly on the exterior of the body.

A nice example of a later 18th century pewter Export Tankard. 7 3/8ā€ tall to top of thumbpiece.
