An English Export Double Volute Gill Pewter Measure

Gill capacity English Export Double Volute baluster measure with “CM” verification mark. The CM stands for Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This measure was found in Maine. Maine was actually part of Massachusetts until March of 1820. A goodly number of CM inspected measures have turned up in Maine.

This measure would date c 1780-1815 and is in near fine condition. This size is fairly uncommon 4 1/16” tall to top of thumbpiece.
