7 3/4" Pewter Plate by Thomas Danforth III - SOLD

7 3/4

Thomas Danforth III produced this 7 ¾” diameter pewter plate in Philadelphia. Danforth and Blakeslee Barns occupied the same address where they both produced pewter. Danforth had his operations there from 1806-1812. During this period, he also conducted business from Connecticut.

Barns’ production was limited to flatware however Danforth made hollowware as well. This plate is in very fine condition with a minimal amount of knife marks on the surface. The lathe turning marks are very clear and the touches are deep and sharp. A wonderful example
