Scottish Glasgow Gill Pewter Measure. This fine example has Imperial Gill cast on the lid. As with all these measures the handle and thumbpiece are cast in place or “burned on” as described in period texts.
There are a few minor dents on the surface which is free of any pitting. The interior is in fine condition as well. This piece measures 4 ¼” to the top of the shell thumbpiece. These were in use from 1826 -1880.
