An Old English Handle Porringer by Thomas Danforth Boardman and Sherman Boardman. This porringer is in very fine condition with a mint as struck, touchmark. The bowl measures 4” in diameter.
This partnership of two brothers began in 1810 and continued until around 1860. This piece however dates circa 1810-1830’s.
Note how the back of the porringer handle looks like "cottage cheese curds" This was caused when the metal poured into the handle mold wasn't as hot as it should have been and solidified quickly.
