An Export Pewter Soup Plate by Thomas & Townsend Compton

An English Export Pewter Soup Plate by Thomas and Townsend Compton. This 8” soup plate is marked with a "Made in London" label and the oval Compton touch are likely the product of Thomas & Townsend Compton, London 1802-1814. This plate is typical of the many many, thousands of plates the Townsend firm and its successors sent to America.

This example is in fine condition with the slightest wear to the face, the hammering on the booge is very distinct. There is a small pit near the reeded rim on the face. A fine example of an Townsend Group export pewter plate.
