A Export Pewter Single Reed Rim Plate by Townsend & Compton

This 8 3/8" pewter plate was made by the firm of Townsend & Compton of London. This was a partnership between John Townsend and his son-in-law Thomas Compton.

The partnership dated 1784-1806. John Townsend died in 1801. I am sure Thomas Compton's wife Mary Townsend was involved

This plate is in very good plus condition with fine as struck touches. There are lots of fine knife and fork marks showing this plate was used considerably
