Quart Bud Baluster Measure. This 18th century measures 7 7/8” tall to the top of the thumb piece. The measure is of very heavy construction typical of many baluster measures. I believe this is an intentional design feature as measures saw heavy use and were frequently handled roughly.
This example is one that is not an Export Example but rather one that was brought over from England by an antiques dealer in the 20th century.
This measure is in very good condition and has either and excise or house mark stamped on the upper lip to the left of the handle. There is a triad of owner’s initials on the lid.
