Near Mint Pewter Plate by Boardman & Hart. - SOLD

The partnership of Thomas D. Boardman and Lucius Hart operated from 1828-1853. This 8 9/16” pewter plate is as fine as they come. There are only a very minor number of light blemishes on the front and back surfaces. The touches are absolutely mint. The surface clearly shows the lathe marks from the finishing process. Note the “chatter” marks on the rim of the plate and bouge, these are caused by the skimming tool vibrating on the surface as it was turning on the lathe.

One would be hard pressed to locate a finer example than this.
