An Export Pewter Plate by Thomas & Townsend Compton

An 8" Export Pewter plate by Thomas and Townsend Compton, London 1802-14. It also could be a product of Thomas Compton alone 1775-1817. The metal is of the highest quality as is the workmanship keeping in the tradition of the work of John Townsend the patriarch of the many partnerships and successorships founded by and from his business.. Note the fine hammered bouge.

The surface of this plate is fine and only shows some usage with light knife marks. The touches are fine as struck. A very nice example of an export pewter plate
