An Unmarked Sheffield Sugar Bowl - SOLD

An Unmarked Sheffield Sugar Bowl

An attractive example of a Sheffield produced sugar bowl. This urn shaped sugar bowl is typical of those produced during the 1790's through the very early 1800's. The "bright cut" engraving is beautifully done on the body and lid following the edges and finished with a shield on the side of the bowl. Within the shield is a space where many clients had their initials engraved.

The wares produced by the Sheffield pewterers were of very high quality both in design and metal. Tea Sets follow silver designs quite closely. The skill of the engravers employed by the pewterers was superb.

The metal on this example is in very good condition there is no maker's mark present. There is some pitting on the inside of the bowl. The height to the top of the finial is 6 7/8".
