A Mint Civil War Infantry "Hunting Horn" Insignia

A Mint Civil War Infantry

This Civil War Infantry "Hunting Horn" Insignia is a mint example. Part of the testament of over production of materials for the war effort. These and many other war materials were sold as surplus following the end of the war.

Various dealers like Whites and Bannermans purchased huge quantities of surplus goods.

This insignia has the proper Civil War loop attachments soldered to the back. The horn measures 3 ½" across. These insignia were attached to the tops of forage caps and on the face side of Hardee Hats. It is believed this horn was manufactured by Thomas N. Hickcox of New York City who had very large contracts to produce these and other insignia

Price: $55
