An Antique American Pewter Swivel Fluid Burning Lamp - SOLD
This mid 19th century unmarked American pewter swivel lamp was designed to be used on a table or hung from a wall or carried as a chamber lamp.
The lamp has a burner designed for burning fluid, with brass extinguishing caps and chain.
The font swivels on a pewter yolk suspended with two copper rivets that pass through the yolk into the font itself allowing the font to swivel freely.
Unlike a gimbal lamp that allow for the font to remain level no matter what position the base is in a swivel lamp has to be held in a manner to keep the font upright.
This lamp is in fine condition and measures 5 1/8" to the top of the burner caps and the saucer measures 5" in diameter
