A Jacob Whitmore Antique American Pewter Deep Dish - SOLD

A Jacob Whitmore Antique American Pewter Deep Dish

Jacob Whitmore worked in Middletown, Connecticut from 1757-1790. He had a partnership with Thomas Danforth II (1755-1782), in fact they jointly owned a number of molds together.

We recently had a Whitmore 13 1/4" deep dish that was the finest condition example we had ever had. This dish is not as fine. The reverse side is in fine condition as you can see in the lathe marks clearly in the photo of the touches, while the face side shows use.

The touchmarks are strong and nearly complete. There are also beautifully engraved owner's initials on the back done in the "Boston" manner. The dish is 13 1/4" in diameter.
