A Fine Pewter Deep Dish by Jacob Whitmore - SOLD

A Fine Pewter Deep Dish by Jacob Whitmore

Jacob Whitmore worked in Middletown, Connecticut from 1757-1790. He had a partnership with Thomas Danforth II (1755-1782), in fact they jointly owned a number of mold together.

This 13 1/4" deep dish is by far the finest example we have ever had. Dishes of this size, particularly 18th century examples saw heavy use and for one to survive as well as this example is uncommon.

The metal is in fine condition with little wear. The touches are particularly well struck for Whitmore.
