A Most Rare 1/2 Pint Pewter Export Mug by John Townsend - SOLD

John Townsend was in business by himself from 1748 until 1763 when he partners with R. Reynolds. He undoubtedly used his touchmark during all of his career which continued until his death in 1801.

This half-pint mug is in fine condition with strong markings including a WR verification mark to the left of the handle. Owner's initials are beautifully engraved on the face of the mug. Measuring 3 3/8" to the lip of the body.

This is a most rare item and most likely something I will not find another example of. (W&P)
