An 18th Century American Pewterer's Tool - SOLD

An 18th Century American Pewterer's Tool

This tool came from the same lot as the others and originated in Rhode Island. It dates from the 18th century and measures 21 1/2" long.

Note the loop end. This is a burnisher. This was originally polished to a very high shine and when pressed against the fresh ridges on the surface of a piece of pewter turning in a lathe, this smoothed the surface to a high luster.
