A True Gimbal Lamp - SOLD

There are many swivel lamps with a single range of motion, however, true gimbal lamps that find their surface plane are quite uncommon.

This unmarked example is in near fine condition, measuring 5 3/4" across the base and 4 1/8" tall to the top of the burner.

This saucer base form has a finger ring as well as small brass ring on the back of the saucer to allow the lamp to hang from a wall. Note that the lathe marks show clearly on the bottom of the lamp.

The true gimbal action of this type of lamp suggests that they may have been used aboard ships.
