This quart tankard is marked "Love". This touch is associated with a succession of Pennsylvania pewters beginning in the mid 18th century and continuing into the early 19th century. This tankard is of 18th century manufacture.
John Andrew Brunstrom, Philadelphia, 1783-93 is believed to have used this touch. His step-father Adam Koehler may have also used this touch.
Examples are found with banded bodies marked by Parks Boyd. All show Swedish influence in the design.
This tankard is in fine condition with a superb touchmark. 7 1/4" tall to top of thumbpiece
