A Rare Thomas Danforth II Flower Handle Porringer - SOLD
This 5" flower handle porringer is the product of the shop of Thomas Danforth II, of Middletown, CT working 1755 until his untimely death at the age of 51 in 1782.
This porringer is in good condition showing that is was used. The touchmark is outstanding and is struck on the back of the handle. The handle is plannished in the 18th century fashion.
The handle design is unique to Middletown mold flower handle porringers in that the first upper pair of apertures are round holes, which is different from Boston and Rhode Island flower handle molds.
Marked porringers from this period before and during the Revolution are quite scarce. This would make a fine addition to any collection.
