A Scarce Rhode Island Flower Handled Pewter Porringer by David Melville - SOLD

Rhode Island Flower Handle Porringer by David Melville, Newport 1776-93. This porringer is marked with the scarce “In God We Hope” touchmark. This is based on the seal of the state of Rhode Island which only incorporates the word Hope. Obviously, the touch is only partially struck due to the open design of the ear.

This porringer is in fine condition with a fine as struck touch. The bowl measures 5 5/16” in diameter and the overall length is 7 ¾”
