A Samuel Danforth Pewter Basin Bowl Porringer - SOLD

Samuel Danforth worked in Hartford, Connecticut from 1795-1816 producing a wide variety of forms including teapots, mugs, tankards, beakers, porringers, flagons, baptismal bowls, chalices, basins, plates, and dishes.

He was the son of Thomas Danforth II of Middletown and received his training there.

This basin bowl porringer measures 3 1/2" in diameter. It is in very good condition with a very good as struck touch of his small hallmarks.

The handle or "ear" of the porringer is of the "Old English" design.

The molds for these porringers were used by Edward Danforth, and The Boardmans as well as by Samuel. These porringer marked by the maker are uncommon.
