American Pewter > Teapots, Coffeepots, Pitchers & Sugar Bowls
A Leonard Reed & Barton Pewter Creamer - SOLD
Leonard Reed & Barton worked in Taunton, Massachusetts from 1834-1840. The firm was a major Britannia Manufacturer as was a competitor the Taunton Britannia Manufacturing Co.
Both of these firms produced domestic and ecclesiastical products. They catered to the fact that individual families had disposable income as the industrial revolution had improved the wages workers received giving them monies for niceties in their homes.
This creamer has a number below the pewterer's name. This is a style designation. The firm produced teapots, coffeepots, sugars and waste bowls to match. This time period saw the development of true "sets" of wares whereas in the 18th century sets were not the rule.
This creamer is in fine condition with a mint touch and measures 5 5/8" to the top of the handle.
