A Samuel Danforth Pewter Plate - SOLD
This 7 7/8" pewter plate was made by Samuel Danforth of Hartford, Connecticut who operated his shop circa 1795-1816 producing a wide variety of wares including plates, dishes, basins, beakers, mugs, tankards, flagons, baptismal bowls, porringers, and teapots.
This plate is in fine condition with a few deep scratches on the face surface that are not detracting. The touchmarks are fine as struck. This eagle mark is reflective of the mark used by Samuel's brother, William who made pewter in Middletown, CT. Samuel likely used Williams die to design this one.
