A Pewter Plate by Samuel Danforth of Hartford - SOLD

A Pewter Plate by Samuel Danforth of Hartford

Samuel Danforth was one of Thomas Danforth II's sons. He was born in Middletown, CT April, 1774. His training started with his Brother Joseph, Sr. circa 1788, the year Joseph Sr. died. He continued his apprenticeship likely under Jonathan and then William.

He moved to Hartford in 1795 after completing his apprenticeship and worked there until around 1816.

This 7 7/8" plate is in near fine condition with excellent turning marks as well as some nice "chatter" marks from lathe vibration.

The touchmarks are fine as struck.
