Pewter Plate by Thomas Badger - SOLD

This 8 3/8" plate was made by Thomas Badger of Boston who worked from 1787 until 1815. The eagle motif of his die was taken from the Massachusetts Large Cent circa 1787.

This plate is in fine used condition. It shows honest wear without any abuse. The well of the plate has considerable knife marks.

The marks are slightly worn but very legible. The owner's initials are struck on the back of this plate. More often they are struck on the face of the rim.
