This plate by Samuel Danforth, Hartford, CT is in nearly new condition.

Samuel, one of Thomas Danforth II's sons was born and trained in Middletown starting under his brother Joseph and finishing up under another brother, William.

Samuel's touch is very closely related to the touch of William. Also note the "Hartford" touch. This mark was later used by Samuel's nephew Thomas Danforth Boardman.

Samuel completed his apprenticeship and moved to Hartford around 1795. He continued working as a pewterer until his death in 1816.

This plate is 7 7/8" in diameter the touches are mint "as struck"and the metal is in very fine condition.
