A Plate by Samuel Danforth of Hartford - SOLD

A Plate by Samuel Danforth of Hartford

This 7 7/8" plate was made by Samuel Danforth, Hartford, CT circa 1795-1816. Samuel was one of Thomas Danforth's sons and had learned the trade in Middletown, CT.

This plate was made in a mold that was used by several of the Danforths.

In fine condition with one scratch of the face surface. The touchmarks are "as struck". Samuel's eagle touch closely resembled the eagle touch of his brother William.

This plate is also marked with the Hartford touch. This particular mark was later used by Samuel's nephew Thomas Boardman.
