An 8 inch Pewter Plate by Blakeslee Barns - SOLD
Blakeslee Barns worked in Philadelphia from 1812-1817 in the same building occupied by Thomas Danforth III. Barns exclusively produced flatware. Plates Dishes and Basins of various sizes. The quality of Barns’ work was excellent and consistent. Usually his touches are well struck.
This plate is in near fine condition. The face side is very fine the back of the plate shows that it was moved across a table very frequently as the surface shows scuff marks. Fortunately, the scuffing did not affect the touch which is centered on the back of the plate.
A nice example of an 8” Blakeslee Barns pewter plate.
