This 8 7/8" pewter plate was made in the shop of Henry Will, NYC 1761-1775, Albany 1775-1783, NYC 1783-1793.
The Wills are one of the most famous families of pewterers known to collectors. Henry, son of John Will (1752-1763), was a sibling of William Will of Philadelphia.
This plate is in very good condition showing use but not abuse. The main touches are well worn, however the hallmarks are quite clear.
This plate also has a hammered booge. This is a decent example of an 18th century plate by a maker from a famous family of pewterers.
