A Most Beautiful Baptismal Bowl Attributed to William Calder - SOLD
This pewter baptismal bowl is attributed with confidence to William Calder, Providence, Rhode Island 1817-56. The bowl measures 8 1/16” in diameter and is 4 9/16” tall to the lip. It is a most pleasing design.
The metal is of excellent quality and the construction is carefully executed typical of other pieces by Calder. The firm produced other forms including teapots, coffee pots, mugs, baby bottles, lamps, chalices, flagons, and porringers.
This is one of the more uncommon forms by this maker and is in outstanding condition as well. A fine example of ecclesiastical pewter
