Unmarked 18th century English Export Pewter Sauce Boat likely from the shop of Henry Joseph, London 1736-1792. Joseph was a prolific maker of various forms of hollowware. He is known for a wide variety of designs of teapots, cream pitches, and sauce boats. He also produced flagons and casters. I have never encountered any flatware in the States that appears to be export items.
This sauce boat measures 7 3/8” long and is 2 ½” tall to the lip of the body. This piece also has a very attractive acanthus leaf double “C” handle. A very sophisticated design..
