A Very Fine Export Pewter Porringer by Hale & Sons

This Export Pewter Flower Handle Porringer was made by the firm of Hale & Sons, of Bristol. They were in business from circa 1778-1782. The firm was erroneously listed in Cotterell as mid 19th century.

The Hales used a better than usual metal for pewterwares produced in Bristol, England. The metal on this example rivals the quality of London produced good.

The metal is fine with a very few slight pits on the bowl. The mark is perfectly struck on the face of the handle. The bowl measures 4 5/8" in diameter and the overall length of the porringer is 6 1/2".

Marked Export Pewter Porringers are very scarce. This example comes from our personal collection ( W & P).
