An Unmarked Export Pewter Porringer with Geometric Handle

Although unmarked, we believe this porringer is a product of the Townsend Shop. Townsend was known through records of shipments he made to America, to have sent porringers to the Colonies. To date, I know of no marked examples of a Townsend porringer. As porringers principally were marked on the handle, this particular design leaves little space for a pewterer to strike their touchmark.

The metal in every example of this porringer we have seen is comparable to the quality of metal found in marked Townsend Export Pewter.

In fine condition. Measuring 5 7/16" in diameter. (W&P)
